What to Consider When Lake Fishing
As outside sales manager for Generation3media, Robert Cicmansky develops and maintains sales accounts. During his free time, Robert Cicmansky enjoys activities such as World War II re-enactments and fishing.
Preparation is an important aspect of lake fishing. Before fishing in local communities, check in with the local regulatory boards to obtain the proper licensure and ensure cooperation with size, species, or number limits. These organizations also can tell you which lakes allow boats, and which types are permitted. In addition, don’t forget to check which local fish species can be found, as this will dictate the proper bait to bring.
Once on the lake, consider location. Many fish have favorite spots, such as weed beds or drop-offs. Another important factor is temperature, since fish like cooler temperatures and tend to be in places where the water is naturally cooler, such as shade or deep areas. A boat can come in handy to reach more places in the lake, but don’t forget a life jacket.
